  17. <p>    If you thought there was something familiar about the Miss
  18. U.S.A. pageant last week, you were dead right. The winner was. .
  19. . Miss Texas -- for the fifth year in a row. Gretchen Polhemus
  20. of Fort Worth succeeded Courtney Gibbs, also of Fort Worth, who
  21. succeeded Michelle Royer of Keller, who succeeded Christy
  22. Fichtner of Dallas, who succeeded Laura Martinez-Herring of El
  23. Paso. And who knows where it all will end, so long as GuyRex
  24. Associates of El Paso is around. The firm, which specializes in
  25. grooming beauty-pageant contestants, worked its magic on all
  26. five Texas winners and in fact runs the Miss Texas-U.S.A.
  27. franchise. "There are no more queens," explains GuyRex partner
  28. Richard Guy. "Momma doesn't make apple pie anymore. It's all
  29. frozen, all corporate-owned."
